Movement & Mindfulness
(Functional Movement)

The trauma-informed yoga developed at MVPC helps patients identify their physical capabilities by regaining confidence in their body’s ability to navigate motion, mobility, and security in their movement.  Yoga begins slowly and is tailored for each patient.  The physical aspect of yoga is relatively small when compared to the therapeutic focus of balancing the central nervous system through neurological re-wiring (e.g., mindful responding to the fight/flight/freeze response).  With MVPC’s yoga therapy, patients engage in mindfulness training by creating safe experiences observing problematic thoughts and sensations, versus the desire to experientially avoid these events.
