Group Processing & Support
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an empirically-validated, SAMHSA-approved, third-wave behavioral therapy approaching human suffering through mindful acceptance of uncontrollable events (e.g., pain) while actively pursuing valued living. ACT is modeled after the Serenity Prayer in helping our patients understand what cannot be changed (chronic pain), changing what they can (how they respond to pain)—knowing the difference—and pursing valued living in the midst of chronic pain. ACT is the behavioral change component in guiding MVPC patients to valued living amidst the grip of pain. Group therapy begins during the third hour of group and is facilitated by a mental health professional to address the emotional pain component of physical pain.
“The staff is wonderful and caring. You come in with pain and leave with a better life.”
“We are confident medication prescriptions, and office visits can be reduced with MVPC’s combined program.”
